Ian is Vice Chairman of the Board of the Alacrity Foundation. He is Professor of Digital Economy at Cardiff University. In 2010/2011, he led a review of intellectual property for the UK Government. This was published in May 2011. The recommendations of this review have been adopted as the basis of UK government policy. Prior to joining Cardiff University he had held roles as Director of BBC News and Current Affairs, Deputy Editor of the Financial Times, Editor of both the Independent and the New Statesman and Director of Strategic Communications at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
